Charlamagne the God sparred with CNN’s Anderson Cooper on Thursday night during a tense interview when the former challenged the media’s – including CNN’s – coverage of former President Donald Trump. Cooper asked for grace regarding how the network covers a candidate supported by tens of millions of Americans. Meanwhile, Charlamagne framed Trump as an authoritarian and castigated CNN and the rest of the mainstream press for treating Trump like an ordinary candidate and not a clear and present danger to basic liberties. During their interview, Cooper asked Charlamagne for his thoughts on strategies Vice President Kamala Harris could use against Trump throughout the last stretch of the campaign. The Breakfast Club host disagreed with the premise of that and other questions, such as whether Harris should go on Joe Rogan’s podcast. “Americans need to keep looking at the rhetoric of Donald Trump because I don’t know why we’re even thinking about electing somebody who is talking about putting people in camps,” the radio host said. “I don’t know why we want to elect somebody who’s talking about mass deportation. I don’t know why we’re having this conversation about somebody who wants to terminate the constitution, to overthrow the results of an election.” Charlamagne then said, “Even me be bringing it up now, you brought it back to Kamala and Joe Rogan, Anderson. Who gives a damn?” Cooper attempted to interject that he and CNN spend every evening discussing topics Americans are concerned about – especially Trump. Charlamagne replied, “I don’t think you have enough conversations,” and blasted CNN before Cooper cut him off.
