He argues there is a balancing act in releasing such sensitive footage out of respect for victims’ families, but still feels there is value in people understanding the trauma fueling Israeli sentiments. Cuomo described very graphic scenes of civilians being hunted down and killed, with perpetrators bragging to their celebratory families. Particularly impactful was extensive footage focused on mutilating and burning female and child victims, which Cuomo now sees as intended to terrorize Israeli civilians by signaling another potential Holocaust. While acknowledging the footage’s capacity to further enflame the situation on both sides, Cuomo contends it still should be released to challenge those who view Israel’s pained outrage as disproportionate or unjustified.
