In The Interview, Anti-Defamation League CEO Jonathan Greenblatt responds to criticism about his recent comments praising Elon Musk. Specifically, the Speaker had applauded Musk for suspending accounts on Twitter that used violent, anti-Semitic terminology like "from the river to the sea." The critic, Isaac Cotiner at The New Yorker, argues it's hypocritical to commend Musk's "leadership in fighting hate” right after Musk promoted an anti-Semitic conspiracy theory.
In response, Greenblatt argues he did in fact criticize Musk for promoting the conspiracy theory before applauding his later action against specific anti-Semitic phrases. He stands by his praise of Musk taking steps to remove violent anti-Semitic speech on Twitter, arguing the move was noteworthy given other platforms have failed to take meaningful action.
